He has not been diagnosed and really shows no other outward signs of autism, but I just wondered if it was anything that you ladies had seen with your LOs and if I should be concerned or not.
It does not interfere with daily life and he can be easily distracted from it if I call him into another room or I start playing with a toy in the living room and he hears me doing it, he comes to see what I am doing and forgets about the doors and drawers.
He seems to be fascinated with it- that's all. I wish he'd stop doing it lol. We've baby proofed most of the cabinets, because he was often taking things out, so there are only a few he can open. Also, if I pick up and take him away from it, he does not cry or throw a fit. I don't know if that matters or anything- he just moves on to the next thing of interest I show him I always liked to play with things that 'work'.

I posted a similar thread on the August Birth Club thread and it seems the activities Donovan enjoys, such as the open and closing of doors, many children of the same age enjoy too. So, maybe in Donovan's case and the cases of these other kids, it's just a developmental thing.
